Business Barometer

This year has seen over 27,000 individuals become the director of an Irish company for the first time.

Based on CRO filings between 1st January and 30th November, we've seen 27,008 people become the director of an Irish company for the first time.

This figure has no doubt been aided by the starting up of almost 16,200 new companies during the same period.

61% of first time directors this year are male and are, on average, 42 years old. The average age of female first time directors this year is 41 years old.

This gender breakdown for individuals has remained fairly constant since 2010 with females making up between 39% or 40% of first time appointments.
